The Aquarium of Genoa

Aiming to renovate the city’s historic centre, this aquarium celebrates the fifth centenary of the discovery of the new world.

The interior design is the work of architect Peter Chermayeff, who conceived this space to give the visitor the impression of being underwater.

The aquarium features collections in 70 pools that house 800 animal and 200 plant species.

The most popular basins are: the reconstruction of a Madagascar lagoon as well as 4 ocean basins with seals, tortoises, dolphins, sharks…
