Panthéon – Paris 

This beautiful building, inspired by the Pantheon of Agrippa in Rome, was built by the architect Soufflot to compete with Saint Peter’s in Rome and Saint Paul in London. In 1791, the Revolution transformed the monument into a temple of great men. Discover the final resting place of Victor Hugo, Simone Veil, Voltaire and Marie Curie. You can also check if the Earth is still turning thanks to the famous Foucault pendulum.

Villa Savoye – Poissy, Ile de France

Built in the early 1930s, the Villa Savoye, designed by architect Le Corbusier, highlights the 5 pillars of the new architecture: pilings, roof gardens, free plans, long windows and free facades. The house has been on UNESCO’s World Heritage List since 2016.

Saint-Denis Cathedral Basilica – Saint-Denis, Ile de France

Also known as the last resting place of the Kings and Queens of France, the Saint-Denis Cathedral Basilica houses the graves of 43 kings, 32 queens and 10 servants of the monarchy. Château de Vincennes – Vincennes, Ile de France

Through the ages, the fortress that was originally the residence of the Kings saw its dungeon transformed into a prison, then into a firehouse and an armoury under Napoleon. Château d’If – Marseille

The Château d’If, known as the place of detention of Edmond Dantes, the character of Alexandre Dumas in The Count of Monte Cristo, was a fortress used to protect the French coasts as well as to guard Marseille and cover the exits and anchorages of the new royal galleys under Francis the 1st.
